The smooth olive green patina is absolutely gorgeous. Confederate Richmond Style two piece buckle. This one is shown as "PLATE 009" in Mullinax's Confederate Buckle Book. This one was dug in the Orange County, Virginia area. This style of Richmond 2-piece Buckle is one of the ones that has the tongue bar extending all the way across the disc. One cool thing about this particular specimen, is that it has a sand casting flaw in the upper part of the "S" filling in the inside of the "S", making this specimen unique . This example has a very pretty smooth dark olive green patina throughout front and back. The patina on the tongue and wreath are the same, which suggests that they were dug together.
