Rare Confederate Pewter CSA Buckle. This is the product of Nobles Brothers, Rome, Georgia Manufactory. It is listed on page 67 Plate #112 in Mullinax's Confederate Buckle Book. These are early war Buckles. This one was dug in north Mississippi. One cool thing about this example, is that it has slightly different shaped letters than what I have seen on other examples of this variety of buckle. Please refer to the picture of this example taken next to the one in Mullinax's book. It has a dark tan woodsy patina to the Pewter. Has all three hooks present and accounted for. This one was broke, what looks to be in two places, on each side of the S . It's hard to tell exactly where as it was very well done. Most all of this variety will be found broken when dug, because the Pewter didn't hold up to heavy campaigning. It was expertly repaired and is back to it's original splendor. If it was an example that was not broke and repaired, it would sell for over 10,000.00. I saw a dug non broken example recently sell for a staggering 12000.00. This one is every bit as pretty for a fraction of the price.
