Awesome Confederate D Guard Bowie Knife . This one is massive with an overall length of just shy of 16" , from stem to stern . The blade is 11 1/4" . This one is non excavated but looks to have came out of a barn or possibly a very early battlefield pickup. Has a beautiful aged weathered look to the iron and wood. The wood handle is solid and has a little wobble due to wood shrinkage, from being exposed to the elements, but not much . Blade is still surprisingly sharp. As the Confederate soldiers would call them " YANKEE GITTERS " , this one could still stickem . This specimen came from North Alabama- Decatur area.
