Absolutely gorgeous Authentic Model 1839 Baby US Buckle on Early white buff leather belt . For Infantrymen and Riflemen . Condition is excellent and the belt is original to this rig . This could have been used in two wars . The Mexican war with the United States and/ or the Civil War that came a few years after. Now for the Identification part . Well, kind of identified. The soldier wrote his name on the inside of the belt. I can make out some of it, but not all of it . Therefore, I can't make an ID on who the soldier was . The inscription is Authentic without question, it just needs to be analyzed more closely by someone and could very well be deciphered and the history of that soldier could be looked up and brought to light. It's very possible and would make a fun project for someone. Anyhow, this one is a keeper in most anyone's book , I know it is in mine.
