Very rare and desirable CS Carbine Sling Buckle. These don't come around very often and are so much more rare than their Federal counterparts. They were made in the Southern manufactories . This style is much thicker, shorter and wider than the Regulation Federal Carbine Sling Buckle. Please refer to the pictures, as I have it next to a Regulation US Carbine sling buckle. The US version is also available in another listing. Also, please note the rounded corners and the bar is much thicker with beveled ends on the bar. Also, the two tongues are more narrow and made of thicker brass. Also note the curvature of the two tongues , I don't know if they were done that way at the factory or if the Confederate trooper did it for some reason, possibly making it fasten more efficiently. The CS version has a much shorter inside frame measurement also, taking a narrower belt . Also I have a CS Manufactured batwing tip , that is possibly harder to find than the buckle itself. This batwing tip is included with the buckle. Please note how much smaller it is than the US Regulation. It is of the correct size for this buckle and the patina matches perfectly. The batwing tip came out of my personal collection and the buckle came out of the late Dick Hammond collection. He was one of the early pioneer relic hunters of Northern Virginia. These two items have no repairs and are virtually perfect dug specimens .
