Very cool 9th plate tintype attributed to Dr. Adolphus Sadler Murphy who joined the 20th Alabama Infantry in 1861 with the rank of Assistant Surgeon, then was promoted to Surgeon Pro-Tem, and finally in November 1864 , he was promoted to Surgeon Army of Tennessee. This image came directly from the Murphy family estate in Greene County Alabama, where Dr. Murphy was from and practiced medicine. This image is a 9th plate measuring 2x2.5 inches ( actual plate size) . It is still in its original half case. This man has alot of information on him and I have included the info in the pictures. One is a copy of a requisition for medicine dated September 1861 and signed "A S Murphy : Surgeon Pro-Tem" and also by the Colonial of the 20th Alabama. Just a neat image packed with a wealth of historical information.
