Nice 3.75" Hotchkiss Shell. These were fired from the James Rifle Cannon . This one was fired and you can see the details in the rifling on the lead sabot. This example has the top portion of the shell , where the fuse was , blown off. The rest of the shell is really pretty condition. The really cool thing about this one is that it still has the numbers and letters visible on the base , you hardly ever see this. It has been highlighted with white in the grooves to better see the writing and it can now be seen from across the room . This is an excellent displaying shell.
