What a wonderful piece. It is a Leech & Rigdon CS marked Field and Staff Officer's Sword Guard dug in north west Corinth Mississippi. It is in perfect dug condition with some of the the gold gilt still hanging on to the brass . It was flattened out when found and is relatively the same size as a buckle and would actually display superbly in someone's buckle collection or the Centerpiece of any Civil War display. It has an oval CS that actually looks like a mini CS buckle cast into the brass guard. This is one of my favorite Confederate Sword patterns. Please note the CS in the casting is classic Leech & Rigdon lettering just like in some of their two piece Buckles. The guy that dug this fabulous piece is a friend of mine and I will give the name to the buyer. What a great Confederate artifact, it's a whole Lotta relic for the price.
