This is definitely something that you don't dig every day. It's a 2.5" ball for 32 or 65 pound Naval Grape. The 32 pounder would have had 12 of these per stand of Grape. The 65 pounder would have 18 of these per stand of Grape. I personally dug this example in the Confederate battle lines at Helena Arkansas. This Grape was fired from the Gunboat USS Tyler. If I remember correctly, she fired 413 rounds into the Confederate lines. Causing massive carnage. The gunboat Tyler had both of these size guns. The 32 pounder was a 6.4" bore and the 65 pounders had a massive 8" bore . We also found 8" shells and a 24 pounder groundburst. Of course that was 35 years ago. This Grape is a little less than half the size of a 6 pounder cannonball. And weighs a little less than 2.5 pounds. This Grape is like a cannonball in itself. I have a 6 pounder cannonball next to it in one of the pictures for size comparison. Listing is for the Grape only.
