Very cool dug model 1849 Colt Revolver. 31 caliber with 4" barrel. It is still Capped and fully loaded in all chambers. The little copper percussion caps are all still on the nipples . Cylinder still spins and you can still read the " ADDRESS Saml Colt Hartford Ct" address on the top of the barrel. The serial number on the brass frame can still be read it appears to be 192774. That would make it an 1861 manufacture date. Brass frame still has some of the original silver plating intact. I personally dug this gun but dug it in 3 sights . The loaded cylinder was dug in the Confederate battle lines at Helena Arkansas. It was probably a spare cylinder that was dropped in the melee. Next was the main frame. It was dug in Lagrange TN, at a Union camp. And last was the barrel, it was dug in the Confederate battle lines at Franklin Tennessee. I put them all together to make an impressive weapon from 3 sites . They are permanently put together so they won't come apart. The cylinder shaft was still intact on the frame and fits the cylinder perfectly so the cylinder still spins nicely. All this was dug over 30 years ago when you could still find stuff like this. I have provided a diagram in the pictures showing where each piece came from. I am stating all this for historical accuracy and so you will know that it wasn't dug together. Other than that, this revolver is a centerpiece for anyone's collection and displays superbly. This is a whole lot of relic for the money!!!
