One of my favorite Yankee Spurs. It's known to collectors as the Christmas Spur / Officer's brass Spur. It's called the Christmas spur because some of them have a December 24th patent date on them, most do not and this is one that is unmarked. It is very ornate and a beautiful spur. The really neat thing about this one is that I personally dug it in the 7th Iowa Infantry camp at Shiloh on private land many years ago. You don't get to dig an intact spur very often, let alone one of these officers spurs. This one displays like a champ and has rock solid provenance.
