What a wonderful item . This is a Civil War period Circa 1860 "M.J. Tobias Liverpool England " pocket watch. It measures 2-3/8" in diameter, and is of standard size. It has a solid sterling silver full hunters case . Has beautiful engraving on each side of the case. The bezel inside, which has the makers mark engraved, is brass with silver plate , but the case is solid silver and original to the watch. It is fully jeweled . Has a gorgeous white porcelain dial with black roman numerals. Glass crystal is perfect. Watch is in pristine condition with no problems. Basically the only wear on the watch is on the bezel inside, where it is wound. Has both original keys, one for setting the time and one for winding. Also has an original brass 10" long Tbar chain . Keeps perfect time and can be used today. It is very hard to find an original Civil War period pocket watch that still works and is in this nice of condition. M.J Tobias made watches were used and very popular with Civil War soldiers both North and South. Priced very modest and reasonable for a Working Civil War period pocket watch
