Beautiful Solid Cast Brass Confederate made Officer's Hat Number . Solid cast is uncommon and is a trait of southern manufacture as most other letters and numbers are stamped brass. Please note the large casting sprue that was not clipped off . It is in great condition with a nice uncleaned patina , just washed off with water .I personally dug this in a Pond's Louisiana Brigade Camp at Shiloh on private land with permission. I found some cool Confederate stuff in that camp . One of the Regiments in that Brigade was the 16th Louisiana. I believe this Number came from one of their officers. The officer numbers are smaller than the normal letters and numbers that you normally see . I have put a couple other letters and numbers beside it for size comparison. This listing is for the 6 only. You don't see these Solid cast ones very often.
