What a cool historical item . It's a complete dug Union Kepi. It was dug at the position held by the 71st Ohio Infantry company D on the first day of the battle of Shiloh. This was on private land with permission. This land was recently bought a few years back, by the Civil War Battlefield Trust and can no longer be hunted anymore . I was blessed to have had permission there back in the day . I personally dug this about 30 years ago. All of these items came out of the same hole and is all that is left of a Kepi that has long since decayed away. I will give a detailed map of the location found, to the buyer. Alot of history for the money and with rock solid provenance.
