Well this one is a favorite of mine, mainly because I dug it . It was dug at Shiloh on private land with permission. It's a Confederate 6pdr Canister Round. I dug it all in the same field and I reassembled it back . Two reasons why I call it Confederate. One is the location, which it would have landed on the positions only Confederate shot would have landed. Two is the very crudely cast balls, with casting sprews, hollowed cast castings and all sorts of imperfections. Now I know, these are canister balls and it really doesn't matter what they look like to serve the same purpose. But the Confederate Arsenals were notorious for that trait and they got functional munitions out and in the field. Also the hillside it was found could have only been Confederate . Moreover, most likely a Louisiana battery. I will give the name of the Louisiana Battery I suspect to the buyer. Great condition and extremely displayable, I know because I displayed it for around 30 years. A great addition to anyone's artillery or general Civil War Collection. Certificate of Provenance and Authenticty will be provided.
