Very pretty condition, Confederate carried early production, Remington Beals 36 cal Navy Revolver. This revolver is very early production, " 11953 " . These Remington Beals are very hard to come by in their own right, as they were only made in 1861 and 1862 . It has barrel markings of " Beal's Patent- September 14, 1858, - Manufactured by Remington - Ilion, NY " . This Revolver remains in crisp and tight condition . The soldiers name is beautifully engraved on the brass trigger guard. The engraving reads,
" F ☆ Snow " . The soldier's full name was Franklin Green Snow of company C , 27th Reg Texas Cavalry ( Whitefield's Legion ) . Whitefield's Legion was stationed near Thompson's Station, Tennessee and was part of Van Dorns and Forrest's command at the battle of Thompson's Station where Forrest rode around to the rear of the enemy and captured an entire regiment of Union Infantry. The battle of Thompsons Station was fought on March 5 , 1863 in Williamson county Tennessee and private Snow died in August of 1863 the next county over . This revolver came out of Dr. Joeseph Boyd's collection. A longtime collector. His collection consisted of many important and impressive Confederate items.
