Rare Rare!!! Lead filled version of the Eagle Sword Belt Plate. These were pre Civil War and used by militia units in the Civil War. These are mainly found ( when they are found) in early war Confederate and Union camps. These were made of stamped brass with lead backs , they were not that sturdy and could not hold up to long campaigning. This example has a smooth patina and still has the brass keeper intact and is in fairly nice condition, except for the loop being broke off , which would have been the reason it was discarded. This one is out of my personal collection and has been there for over 30 years. You won't get many chances if any to find another one of these for sale.
